Right at the first sight at the visitor center we're totally impressed by the autumn leafs.
The blue sky contributes well to the impression.
The view from our room at Sanga ryokan also includes nice autumn leafs.
This is a really nice room, even though it was one of the least expensive rooms.
The aisle as well looks very orderly.
And everywhere you'll find nice flowers.
We start our walk through Kurokawa at the visitor center.
We're astonished about the wonderful colors.
Everywhere you'll run into the onsen pilgrim groups.
Every ryokan has at least a couple of those bright maple trees.
The bright colors are enjoyed best with a certain contrast.
Our in a nicely fitting landscape.
A nice old bath house at the town's edge.
The tree's colors look like it's burning.
The old bath house from a different angle.
An interesting contrast between the tree and the old lamp.
Bright trees where ever you are looking.
The sun is going down slowly but the trees are still shining.
Maple leafs in full and bright detail.
This is a nice flower pot at a house entrance.
You won't believe it, but this is the smoking area with rain cover.
Most of the ryokans are located along the small river.
Many of them have their own bridges to get to both sides.
Entrance to another onsen.
This old street has all the main attractions of Kurokawa.
We're still wondering what this sign wants to tell us.
This time we hit a guided group of onsen enthusiasts.
Everything in Kurokawa is arranged with a lot of atmosphere.
Even in such a remote place you'll find German cars.
Even the meal menus are presented very attractively.
Did we already have ryokan bridges?
Nicely cut trees are in the back of this ryokan.
And another nice (freshly renovated?) house front.
A small step in the river.
Without much walking you find more and more nice views.
If you want to attract people to your cafe, you really have to fancy up the entrance area.
Many of the old buildings have thousands of corners.
Autumn leafs on the ground also have their charm.
Entrance of another ryokan.
This is just a regular street bridge.
Entrance area of the Sanga ryokan,
This ryokan is located down at the river in a dark forest.
All those trees do a good job of hiding most of the buildings.
There are a couple of side buildings providing the rooms with their own baths.
We're dressed up in the house dress and are ready for dinner.
We're both very impressed by the nice setting of this ryokan.
The starters have arrived.
Different vegetables and sashimi from fish and horse.
A very tasty fish from local waters.
And a vegetable bowl with slices of chicken.
A surprise for the next course.
Gratinated sweet potatoe and a fish ball.
Accompanied by wonderful tempura.
We finish with a gigantic rice dish and fruits as desert.
It's time for a relaxing soak in the stone bath.
Enjoying the hot water.
Everything is in full darkness like that foot bath.
The path in front of the entrance is lighted slightly better (with long exposure).
Nice lounge with iori.
This was a wonderful night.
We start the day soaking in the very nice rotenburo.
Taking a bath with this great view is even more relaxing.
Only full daylight reveals the nice surroundings of our ryokan.
Our ryokan has its own bridge as well.
And another photo with the yukata only.
This is the access path to the nice rotenburo.
And the very steep access road to the ryokan entrance.
A short walk around our ryokan at daylight.
Entrance to the shared bath.
The lights are all encloused in those little houses.
It's almost impossible to have more autumn leafs.
Well, for us it's already time to say goodbye to Kurokawa onsen.
